Mens tennis keeps win streak alive with weekend wins

The Minnesota men’s tennis team defeated Northwestern onSaturday in dual competition, 5-2, to improve its record to 8-1 in Big Ten play.
The Gophers won five out of six singles matches and two of three doubles contests to take the victory.
At top singles, Minnesota’s Harsh Mankad came from behind to beat Northwestern’s Steve Erickson, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6.
At number two, Minnesota suffered its only singles loss as the Wildcats Jost Hol beat Thomas Haug, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6.
Also picking up wins for Minnesota were Jorge Duenas, Martin Michalowski, Tyson Parry and Jon Svensson.
Minnesota lost at number one doubles, but Mankad and Duenas combined for a win at number two and the team of Eric Robertson and Steve Solberg won to clinch the doubles point.
The Gophers’ next action comes next weekend when they host Purdue and Indiana next weekend to finish the Big Ten season.
