President Barack Obama launched the first in a series of television ads looking to gain support among women.
The ad highlights the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which makes it easier for women to seek the same pay as men for doing the same work, The Associated Press said. It was the first law Obama signed after taking office.
Featured in the ad are photos of Obama when he was a baby and with his two daughters Malia and Sasha, according to ABC News.
Obama isn’t in any danger of losing women voters. According to a late-May ABC News poll, the edge for Obama over Republican opponent Mitt Romney was 51%-40%. But the Democrat is taking no chances as he looks to reassemble the coalition that powered him to victory in 2008, ABC said.
Romney has not said if he would have signed the Lilly Ledbetter legislation, though he said he would not seek to overturn it, according to the AP.
The ad is running in seven states across the county – the closest to the U being Iowa.
