Hausman wins re-election

State Rep. Alice Hausman won re-election Tuesday night to represent District 66A of the Minnesota state Legislature.

Hausman, DFL-Minneapolis, won with about 63 percent of the vote. Her opponent, Republican Mark Fotsch, garnered 31 percent of the vote.

District 66A covers the areas of Roseville, Minn., and Falcon Heights, Minn., an area including the University of Minnesota’s St. Paul Campus.

Hausman has been in office since 1989, when she was elected during a special election. This will be her 13th term, and she has served in office for the past 22 years.

Hausman previously represented District 66B, but with re-districting, she now represents 66A. Hausman also served District 63B when she was first elected in 1989.

During Hausman’s last session, she was a part of the Capital Investment Committee and the Transportation Policy and Finance Committee.

While combing the polls Tuesday, the Daily asked students about Hausman. Of the students asked, none recognized her name.
