Newly appointed head football coach Tracy Claeys announced on Sunday that two members of his coaching staff will be replaced next year.
Minnesota offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Matt Limegrover and quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Jim Zebrowski will not have their contracts renewed, according to a press release sent on Sunday.
Limegrover and Zebrowski had been in their positions since former head coach Jerry Kill took over in 2011.
“I have decided to make a change that will better fit my offensive philosophy, which is to have one coordinator calling the plays,” Claeys said in a press
release.
Limegrover served alongside Claeys and Kill since 1999, when the three were on the coaching staff together at Emporia State. Zebrowski had been with the staff since Kill hired him from Northern Illinois University in 2010.
The Gophers’ season is likely finished after their loss to Wisconsin on Saturday. The team is 5-7 this year after back-to-back 8-5 seasons.
Gopher Athletics named Claeys the permanent head coach and gave him a three-year contract on Nov. 11 after Kill resigned on Oct. 28 due to health reasons.
