A break to serve

Tears, laughter and the desire to help those in need were shared by more than 300 participants last week on a community service trip called the Pay it Forward Tour.

On the Olympic Tour Maroon bus, 39 people from Minneapolis to the Korean Peninsula learned about one another and worked together to improve communities in the United States.

Eight buses from five schools participated in the tour organized by the group Students Today Leaders Forever. The students on the Maroon bus visited five cities on their way to Washington, D.C., where all the students participated in a park cleanup project.

The project in Washington, D.C., was in conjunction with the Earth Conservation Corps and Washington Parks and People, an organization that gathers volunteers to help clean up parks in the city.
