Lay-offs and hiring freezes are the product of a budget that is designed to serve the University’s best interests in times of financial hardship. The reasonable response by the University has led to structured cuts to unskilled labor. This labor will be inexpensive to replace with future resources. The SDS are willing to display their emotions regarding the budget, but are strangely unwilling to produce any legitimate alternative. Scott Hume University student
