Two Border Patrol agents killed while pursuing shooting suspects

trol agents were slain Tuesday in a gunbattle with a man suspected of killing a woman and her daughter.
The gunman, Ernest Moore, was captured after being wounded in the shootout.
The slayings of Susan Lynn Rodriguez, 28, and Ricardo Guillermo Salinas, 24, brought to four the number of Border Patrol agents killed on the job this year. Ms. Rodriguez is the first woman Border Patrol agent to die in the line of duty.
The events began around 5:30 a.m. when police in the Harlingen suburb of Rio Hondo received a 911 call of shots fired.
An officer arrived at the house and found 53-year-old Margarita Flores and her daughter, 31-year-old Dalia Morin, shot to death in a hallway. A man, Dan Morin, 22, was critically wounded. It was unclear how he was related to the women. Police said the slayings appeared to be a domestic dispute.
Moore was shot four times. His condition was not immediately available. No immediate charges were brought against him.
