The Minnesota men’s and women’s tennis teams volley back into action this weekend after spending working spring breaks in sunny locales.
The men’s team managed a spring break road trip to Hawaii, where they competed against BYU, New Mexico State and several local schools.
The men travel to Madison, Wisc. for a Saturday morning tilt with Wisconsin before back-tracking to Iowa City to face off with the Hawkeyes.
Coach Dennis Geatz said his team, still undefeated in Big Ten play, needed to stay that way to have a chance at winning the league championship.
” We have to go in looking for a sweep. I really think it will take a 10-0 season to win the league this year,” Geatz said.
The women’s team jetted off to sunny California, where they defeated UC-Santa Barbara before knocking off San Diego. Last year, San Diego knocked the Gophers out of NCAA competition.
The women’s team will enjoy a homestand against Wisconsin and Iowa. Both meets are at the 98th Street racquet club in Bloomington. The Badgers visit on 6:30 p.m. Friday, with the Hawkeyes arriving at 10 a.m. Sunday.
