Technical problems caused an e-mail outage for some University students, staff and faculty members Monday. For one hour and 45 minutes, 28 percent of the University’s 120,000 e-mail accounts were down.
The problem was caused by a piece of hardware within the disk drive for e-mail systems, said Scott Ruud, deputy chief informational officer of Enterprise Application Systems, which runs all of the major administrative systems for the University.
“This is a very remote occurrence,” Ruud said. “We haven’t had an e-mail outage for a very, very long time.”
