The irony slays me. Moments after we learn that junior wide receiver Eric Decker would be sidelined against Wisconsin, we also learn that he’s been named a finalist for Biletnikoff award, annually given to the top wide receiver in college football.
Decker is tops in the Big Ten and eigth in the nation in receptions per game and second in the Big Ten and 23rd in the nation in receiving yards per game. He broke his own single season school record for receptions against Northwestern and now has 74 on the year. Clearly he deserves to be on this list of finalists, but missing this week will likely knock him out of contention to win the award, which is unfortunate.
Decker is the only finalist from the Big Ten, while six of the ten receivers on the list are from the Big 12, including last year’s Biletnikoff winner, Texas Tech’s Michael Crabtree.
