The seven remaining Big East football teams have scheduled a meeting for Tuesday night regarding the departure of two of their flagship programs Pittsburgh and Syracuse.
The teams that will meet to discuss the state of the conference are Cincinnati, Connecticut, Rutgers, Texas Christian, Louisville, West Virginia and South Florida.
ESPN reported that Villanova, a Big East team that doesn’t play conference football, is seeking an invite to the meeting because they want to be considered a candidate to play football for the Big East.
Villanova is currently a Colonial Athletic Association team in football and won the FCS Championship in 2009.
