Saturday Game

After struggling against North Dakota on Thursday Night, Minnesota struck first the Fighting Hawks on Friday, but with a 2-3 final score, it wasn’t enough to prevent a North Dakota sweep.

Scoring his second goal of the weekend, Ben Meyers cam through for the Gophers midway through the third to cut North Dakota’s lead to just one goal. Meyers is a Freshman at Minnesota but came to the team after a full high school career and three seasons in the United States Hockey League (USHL). His experience is valuable to the young team, and something head coach Bob Motzko said is becoming more of a standard in college hockey, QUOTE

The Meyers goal came after North Dakota scored three straight on the Gophers, with Shane Pinto getting the Fighting Hawks on the board in the first period with an assist from Judd Caufield.

After coming in to relieve LaFontaine in the game on Thursday, Goaltender Jared Moe said the team in front of him looked much better the second tie around, QUOTE. One phrase he repeated often was X, the team took a lot from the video sessions they had before the Friday game,
