Gophers freshman keeper Tarah Hobbs was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after two sensational efforts last weekend.

Hobbs recorded 14 saves in back-to-back shutout performances.

The Gophers drew a scoreless tie Friday night against Ohio State, and defeated seventh-ranked Penn State 1-0 on Sunday.

Hobbs was also named co-freshman of the week.
