Gophers wrestling signs seven for next season

The No. 3 Gophers wrestling team announced today that Sam Brancale, Jarod Doner, Brandon Kingsley, Michael Kroells, Brett Pfarr, Dakota Trom and Cody Phillips have all signed National Letters of Intent to wrestle for Minnesota next season.

Doner is from Cuba City, Wisc., and is a three-time Wisconsin state champion. During the past three seasons he has a combined record of 143-0.

Brandon Kingsley is a brother of current Gophers’ wrestler Jordan Kingsley. He has won Class AAA championships the past three years for Apple Valley, Minn., winning at 140 pounds last year, 135 his sophomore year and 125 his freshman year. 

Trom is also a three-time state champion from Apple Valley. He won at 125 pounds last year, 119 pounds his sophomore year and at 112 his freshman season.

“We have a great group of kids coming in,” said Head Coach J Robinson in a release. “These are very hardnosed student-athletes who love to wrestle, who are hard workers and are dedicated to the sport. We are very excited about this class.”
