Defensive tackle Hageman suspended

by John Hageman

Gophers interim head coach Jeff Horton announced Wednesday that freshman defensive tackle Ra’Shede Hageman has been suspended for Saturday’s game against Penn State for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Hageman was listed on the depth chart behind junior Brandon Kirksey. Horton wouldn’t elaborate on what triggered the suspension, but said that it occurred on Tuesday.

“I made some points that I expected our players to follow and what I expected out of them on and off the field.” Horton said. “We will meet again on Sunday. If he fulfills his obligations all week long like I expect him to, then he will be reinstated on Sunday.”

Hageman has played in all seven games this year, tallying four tackles. He has switched from backup defensive end to tackle earlier this year after coming to the Gophers as an All-State tight end for Washburn High School in Minneapolis.
