Your own “Legend of Zelda” symphony

Tonight the first ever video game themed concert comes to the Orpheum Theatre for The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses. A full symphony orchestra will recreate those moments on your N64 or GameBoy when you opened treasure to find rupees or walked around the Lost Woods in Hyrule. As one of the most famous media franchises, with over 62 million copies sold since 1986, it’s about time an orchestra properly turned the music from the original 8-bit adventure series into a full-fledged concert.

Chances are, you can’t afford the $49 to $129 price tag for the affair, but that shouldn’t hinder you from enjoying some classic Koji Kondo, Nintendo-composed gems. A&E offered up some quality links to enjoy your weekend revisiting to the video game’s best music (“It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this.”):

Ocarina of Rhyme remixes rappers Jay-Z, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg (pre-Lion), Busta Rhymes, Common, and more with N64 classic, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

If you’d rather not meld your video games and your hip-hop, then here’s a playlist of the symphony’s rendition of various Zelda tunes.
