A trio of nation leading performances from Gophers highlight three conference awards for indoor track and field.

Senior Heather Dorniden earned the Big Ten Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week after recording the fastest time in the nation in the 800-meter run. Dorniden, a six-time All-American, posted a 2:05.51 to win the event at the Jack Johnson Classic last weekend.

Junior Chris Rombough not only set a school record in the 3K this weekend with a time of 8:00.66, he also posted the fastest time in the country this season. Rombough won the event and earned the Big Ten Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for his performance.

And finally, junior R.J. McGinnis completed a Minnesota sweep of the men’s awards by taking the Field Event Athlete of the Week. McGinnis, again posting the fastest time in the nation, won four of seven events in the heptathlon to earn the individual title with 55,511.
