Body found in river is Jennifer Houle

The medical examiner said she died of drowning.

Jennifer Houle, the University of Minnesota student missing since Friday, died south of the 10th Avenue Bridge, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner said in a press release.

The 22-year-old business senior was last seen early Friday at a Dinkytown bar. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, which began searching for Houle over the weekend, found Houle’s body in the Mississippi River near the 10th Avenue Bridge. Houle died of freshwater drowning, the press release said.

The manner of death is still under investigation. Video evidence from a police surveillance camera showed Houle entering the river Friday, but authorities declined to say whether she jumped or fell.
