Harun Abda broke the school 800-meter record while winning the Alex Wilson Invitational over the weekend. His time of 1 minutes 47.87 seconds also atuomatically qualifies the Gophers track star for the NCAA Championships next weekend in Texas.

Abda broke Toby Henkel’s old record of 1:48.23 (set in 2003) as well as Abda’s previous personal best by more than two seconds.

Minnesota’s distance medley relay team also earned an NCAA automatic qualifier Friday.
