Gophers named to summer league all-star teams

The Mankato Moondogs finished the first half of the Northwoods Summer League with the league’s best record at 23-10. Minnesota senior catcher Kyle Knudson is now heading to the Northwoods All-Star game as recognition for his teams fast start.

 

Knudson will be joined on the team by fellow Gopher Michael Kvasnicka. The junior is a member of the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers and was named as a late addition to the team on Friday, July 17.

 

Knudson was named to the team after hitting .288 with 12 RBI’s for the Moondogs. Kvasnicka is second in the Northwoods league in batting average, hitting .333. He also has scored 13 runs and hit 20 RBI.

The game will be played this Tuesday at 5:05 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

 

In addition to the two Northwoods League All-Stars, the Gophers are sending a third representive to another summer league all-star game. With an ERA of 1.46 and 31 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings of work, Minnesota pitcher and Hyannis Met Seth Rosin has been named an alternate for the West Division All-Stars of the Cape Cod League.
