Huzzah! America’s favorite blues duo The Black Keys just announced dates for their upcoming summer tour and it turns out they’ll be performing at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul on July 3rd with Cage the Elephant. In the past year, “Da Keys” have made the transition from indie rock lynchpins to Grammy-winning quasi-mainstream rock stars – it’s the latest cultural phenomenon sweeping the nation (also see: Arcade Fire). Sure, their delta-blues schtick has gotten a little redundant on record in recent years but there aren’t many bands that can mirror the magic Carney and Auerbach create before a live audience. Last year’s second First Ave performance was by far one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended. And coming from a guy who once saw Bruce Springsteen gyrate a few feet away from him, that’s saying a lot.
These tickets will sell in less time than it took for Mother Nature to crush all our desperate hopes of an early Spring. Which by my calculation, gives us like five days. So get at it bros, girls and various humans.
