Junior Anne Schleper and sophomore Noora Raty of the Gophers women’s hockey team earned WCHA player of the week honors after helping the team to a sweep of Saint Cloud State last weekend.
Schleper and Raty, both first team all-Americans for the Gophers last season, won the co-offensive and defensive player of the week awards respectively.
Schleper tied her career high by recording four points (one goal, three assists) in the Gophers 5-0 win Friday night and added two assists Sunday, bringing her weekend point total to six. She is the first Gophers defenseman ever to win offensive player of the week honors.
Raty started both games of the series in goal for the first time this season and recorded her third and fourth consecutive shutouts of the year, saving all 32 shots she faced.
Raty has not allowed a goal in her 240 minutes between the pipes this season.
The Gophers head to Duluth this weekend to take on reigning national champion Minnesota-Duluth.
