The Minnesota womenâÄôs cross country team will begin their season this Saturday with an intrasquad meet in Falcon Heights. The University of Minnesota Les Bolstad golf course will host the GophersâÄô home meets this year, including this weekendâÄôs, which begins at 10 a.m. Defending Big Ten champion Minnesota will return 14 letter winners from last season including junior All-American Jamie Cheever and All-Regional senior Gabriele Anderson. Both were members of last yearâÄôs team that placed 12th at the NCAA Championships âÄî the third-straight year Minnesota posted a top-12 finish. âÄúOne never knows how a season will turn out but I know one thing for sure. This team will work hard every day and will continue to be balanced in their running, their academics and their purpose,âÄù coach Gary Wilson said in a statement. âÄúNeedless to say we have a very strong group and our goals will be set very high and if I was to guess IâÄôd say this team will achieve anything that they set out to do.âÄù
