Favorite movie: The Cutting Edge (If you’ve never heard of this movie, you can join 90 percent of the population who missed this cinematic wonder starring D.B. Sweeney and Moira Kelly. Yes, another 80 percent of the population has never heard of those two.)
Most photogenic moment: In high-school cross country, we had to wear these incredibly short shorts with little tank tops. Being a taller and non-toothpick girl, I would always pull down the shorts so they covered at least my upper thigh. By our biggest meet of the year, I had apparently pulled the shorts too many times. As I ran that day, people laughed and pointed. My coach laughed and pointed. My boyfriend laughed and pointed. (Actually, I think he laughed the hardest.) I continued on my run, tucked my jersey in tighter and pulled my shorts lower. As I finished, winded and ready to collapse, my coach still pointed and laughed. Frustrated, I stormed off until a group of friends pointed to my shorts. As I had pulled down my shorts, I actually snapped the elastic until they hung past my hips and tucked my jersey into my underwear. So, yes, I mooned 1,000 or so spectators. Plus, I had chosen bright blue high-brief underwear that morning. I was called “Blue Moon” for the rest of my high school career.
My column runs every other Friday.
