PPERRIA event encourages business along University Avenue

For businesses that depend on foot traffic along University Avenue, the end of Light Rail Transit construction for the season is worth celebrating. On Dec. 1, the Prospect Park East River Road Improvement Association is encouraging residents to support those businesses during their Return of the Avenue event.

PPERIA’s all day event will focus on the University Avenue stretch from 25th Ave SE to Emerald Street SE.

Businesses along University Avenue have seen a reduced amount of foot traffic due to construction, and some have consequently suffered financially.

Cupcake, a bakery along the stretch, found the LRT construction to be an aggravation for costumers trying to get to their store. They will be offering deals for $10 on 4 packs of cupcakes Saturday.

Cupcake is one of many stores participating – other stores specializing in electronics, clothes and fabric, art, antiques, auto parts and more are also offering deals and specials for the Return to the Avenue.
