Minnesota wraps up NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Minnesota women finished the NCAA Track & Field Championships 18th overall with 14.5 team points, while the men finished 37th overall with seven points.

On Friday, Hassan Mead ran the final of the 5,000 meters.  He finished sixth overall in a time of 14:09.87, capturing his third All-America honors. Mead had previously earned All-America honors in the 5,000 at the indoor championships as well as in cross country.

Also earning All-America honors were Liz Roehrig and Alicia Rue. Roehrig was the NCAA runner-up in the heptathlon, as she was last year.  Rue earned her first All-America honor when she tied for third in the pole vault after clearing 14-1 1/4.

Heather Dorniden was the last Gopher to compete, finishing eighth in the finals of the 800 meters.  She ran a 2:04.44 and earned her ninth All-America honor.
