Sophomore winger Zach Budish will undergo season-ending knee surgery, head coach Don Lucia said after Minnesota’s 3-3 overtime tie Saturday night against Wisconsin. Budish crashed his moped on Monday morning while driving north on 15th Avenue SE.
This is the second knee injury to keep Budish out of a hockey season. He missed the entirety of his final high school season after hurting his knee playing football at Edina High School.
Through last weekend, Budish had two goals and four assists in seven games, and was coming off a goal and an assist during the Gophers’ road sweep of Colorado College.
