Kerr wins third golf tourney of year

Gophers men’s senior golfer Robb Kerr shot an even-par 72 Tuesday to capture first-place individual honors at the 36-hole Bridges All-American Tournament in Bay St. Louis, Miss.
As a team, Minnesota finished third in the 18-school field with a score of 587. Southeastern Louisiana won the tournament with a score of 574, followed by Northwestern at 585.
Kerr shot a 69 in the first round of the rain-shortened tourney and trailed Georgia State’s Jaime Acevedo by five strokes after day one. But Acevedo’s second-day score ballooned to 82, paving the way for Kerr’s win.
It was Kerr’s third tournament win in five outings this year. He took previous titles at the ReliaStar Invitational and the Northern collegiate Invite during the fall season.

Men’s gymnasts move up
Despite dropping a pair of road meets over the weekend, the Gophers men’s gymnastics team moved up five places to No. 12 in the latest team rankings.
Minnesota is off this weekend before hosting Nebraska on Feb. 27.
