Big Ten announces Academic All-Conferernce: 53 Gophers named

The Gophers had 53 student-athletes earn Academic All-Conference for fall seasons, constituting 7.5 percent of this year’s recipients.

Recipients included volleyball’s Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Jessica Granquist; senior quarterback Adam Weber; and women’s cross country runners Steph Price, who earned All-American, and Kathryn Ritter, who earned a 4.0 grade point average.

To qualify for the award, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second year of school and have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Other recipients (by sport) include: Cross country runners Pieter Gagnon, Kevin Lachowitzer, Andrew Larson, Mike McFarland, Sean Olson, Mike Torchia, Rachel Drake, Katie Dyson, Katie Moraczewski, Cassy Opitz, Steph Price, Claire Rindo, Katie Salvatore, Missa Varpness, Kayla Wagner; volleyball players Ariana Filho, Lauren Gibbemeyer, Brianna Haugen, Tabi Love, Mia Tabberson; football players DJ Burris, Ryan Coleman, Ed Cotton, Austin Hahn, Aaron Hill, Bryan Klitzke, Adam Lueck, Collin McGarry, Ryan Orton, Mike Rallis, Shady Salamon, David Schwerman, Pat Sveum, Ryan Wynn; and soccer players Olivia Bagnall, Steph Brandt, Jennie Clark, Shari Eckstrom, Kylie Kallman, Alex Koller, Angie Olson, Cat Parkhill, Allie Phillips, Marissa Price, Julie Rezac, Katie Roberts, Molly Rouse, Katie Shelander, Josie Solie, and Tamara Strahata.
