Group celebrates Spring Pride Week

The QSCC gathered at Coffman to call for more support.

The Queer Student Cultural Center held a rally from noon to 1 p.m. at Coffman Memorial Union Monday to celebrate the groupâÄôs annual Spring Pride Week. Band Tough Tough Skins preformed, and Kelly Lewis from Outfront Minnesota spoke. âÄú[Kelly Lewis] was calling us to coalition,âÄù Remy Corso, event coordinator for the QSCC, said. âÄúThis is an issue that concerns us all. We still have a lot of work to do.âÄù The week is meant to gather support for the group. This is the groupâÄôs 40th anniversary. Corso said this did not impact the number of people that showed up Monday. âÄúWe just want to get the message out and get people to come and join us,âÄù Mario Acito, University senior, said. Other events this week include a showing of âÄúStill Black,âÄù a documentary about black transgender men, as well as speeches, workshops and other films. Spring Pride Week kicked off on Friday with a drag show.
