Three Minnesota baseball players were named to the "Louisville Sluggers" Freshmen All-American team Wednesday.
Outfielder Justin Gominsky (Mahtomedi, Minn.), first baseman Nick O’Shea (Blaine, Minn.) and shortstop AJ Pettersen (Minnetonka, Minn.) all earned honors.
The Gophers’ three players is the most of any team in the country. This is the first time since 2006 a Minnesota player has been a part of the freshman All-America squad when Matt Nohelty (Rothschild, Wis.) made the team.
Gominsky, O’Shea and Pettersen also earned spots on the All-Big Ten freshmen team, and Pettersen also earned second-team All-Big Ten honors this year.
