Let the rush begin

The University men’s athletics department announced Thursday that a limited number of Gophers hockey rush tickets will be made available the night of each hockey game.
Tickets will go on sale at the 10-minute mark of the first period. They will be discount priced at $16.50 for adults, $12 for University students, and limited to two per customer.
Availability will vary from game to game, and will be determined once the game is underway. An official at the Gophers ticket office said roughly ten percent of season ticket holders didn’t show up for games last season.
Men’s athletics director Mark Dienhart said the policy was implemented as a way of improving the atmosphere at Gophers games.
“We’re fortunate to be in a sold-out situation with Golden Gopher hockey,” Dienhart said, “but frankly have a no-show problem when there are hockey fans who would love to get into Mariucci Arena but haven’t been able to.”
Rush ticket holders are not guaranteed a specific seat, but will be allowed to move into vacant reserved seats or standing room.
