A power outage affecting more than 2,000 people in the Dinkytown area occurred Wednesday morning. Equipment failure caused the 40 minute outage beginning at 11 a.m. Xcel Energy representative Patti Nystuen said the exact area of the outage is unknown. The power equipment failed around the corner of 22nd Avenue SE and Elm Street SE. Businesses and homes reported the outage along 15th Avenue in Dinkytown. The stoplight at the intersection of 15th and Rollins avenues was also affected. The company sent crews to the site, and turned power back on to the 2,337 Xcel customers affected.
