Multiple robberies and thefts were reported near the University of Minnesota last week as on-campus crime remained relatively quiet.

Two University students were robbed at gunpoint on Monday at 11:17 a.m. on 11th Avenue Southeast near Marcy Park, according to the Minneapolis Police Department. The male and female victims had a wallet, cash, debit card and Minnesota ID taken during the altercation.

An MPD officer responded to a gunpoint robbery on Jan. 16 at around 1 a.m. A man reported being threatened at gunpoint by two suspects after getting off a Metro Transit bus on Bedford Street Southeast in Prospect Park.

Police records show the suspects drove up to the victim before getting out of their vehicle and demanding money from him. After the victim rejected their demands, they threatened him at gunpoint. The victim wasn’t injured and no losses were reported.

An MPD officer responded to a reported theft on Sunday at 9 p.m. A woman was talking on the phone while walking in front of 1301 University apartments when a suspect wearing a black hoodie and pants snatched her purse off her shoulder. The purse was reported stolen.

An attempt to cause bodily harm was reported to MPD on Sunday at midnight. A woman was reportedly assaulted at 2725 University Ave SE in Prospect Park. She was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for minor injuries.

The home of a University student was broken into on Jan. 16, according to MPD. The theft occurred on 6th Street Southeast in Dinkytown near The Marshall apartments.

Her home was left unlocked as she and her roommate went to a friend’s house, according to police reports. The victim’s roommate returned before she did, and texted to alert her about the disarray their living room was in. A wallet, which had been sitting on the couch, and an Apple TV Fire Stick were stolen.

While MPD responded to multiple crimes in the area, the University of Minnesota Police Department cited few crime incidents on campus.

A man was arrested at UMPD’s office on Sunday at 9:50 a.m. for an outstanding felony warrant for a narcotics violation. He was booked at Hennepin County Jail.

“Crime trends have been slow on campus. Coming off of break, campus has been ultimately slow,”  UMPD community engagement officer Ashlee Lange said.
