Wendell collects conference honor

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced Krissy Wendell has been named the WCHA Player of the Week for her performance against Ohio State last weekend.

Wendell scored four goals Friday night, helping the top-ranked Gophers women’s hockey team to a 6-3 win over the Buckeyes. She followed her Friday night performance with a goal and assist Saturday for six points during the series.

Wendell recorded her first career hat trick for the Gophers against OSU. She added her fourth goal at 12:16 of the third period to become the first Minnesota player to score four goals in a game since former Gopher Nadine Muzerall did in January 2000. Wendell, a member of the 2002 U.S. Olympic Team, scored four goals on five shots for a .667 shooting percentage. Of her four goals, one was on the power play, one was a short-handed tally and the other two were even-strength tallies, including the game-winning goal.
