Gophers shortstop AJ Pettersen was named to Baseball America’s All-America team, adding to the multiple awards he has already received after a strong freshman season.
This is the fourth All-America team Pettersen has been named on, after previously being named to Ping!baseball and Collegiate Baseball Magazine’s All-America teams. Pettersen was also named to the Big Ten All-Freshmen team.
Pettersen received the honors after a season which saw him lead the big ten in runs scored in conference games, and finish second on the team in batting average, hitting .353. His batting average was the highest by a Minnesota freshman since 2006, when Matt Nohelty hit .361.
Pettersen was the only freshman from the Big Ten to be named to Baseball America’s Freshman All-America team.
