Racino clears hurdle in House

Against all odds, racinos are back on the table in the state House of Representatives, according to a Star Tribune article.

House Agriculture, Rural Economies and Veterans Affairs Finance Division Chair Al Juhnke, DFL-Willmar, added the provision to a different bill that passed the committee.

The bill will face a tougher vote coming up, while it’s senate companion is languishing.

Juhnke said revenue from the measure could total in the millions for the state, and could be put toward a new Vikings stadium. Racinos have been stalled in the Legislature for the past 13 years.
