Gophers men’s basketball senior Quincy Lewis and incoming freshman Joel Przybilla were among 32 players to receive tryout invites for the 1998 Goodwill Games.
The tryouts will begin May 29 in Colorado Springs, Colo. Finalists will be announced June 1.
In addition, Gophers signee Nick Sinville and De La Salle senior Ben Johnson received invitations to try out for the USA Basketball Junior World Championship Team.
Tennis team gets regional bid
Gophers junior Tom Chicoine received an automatic bid to compete at the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships, held at the University of Georgia from May 27-31.
Chicoine, 23-17 on the season after winning three matches at last weekend’s Big Ten tournament, joins three other players from Region IV at the NCAAs.
The Gophers will compete as a team at the NCAA Region IV Championships from May 15-17.
Women’s golf last at Big Tens
The Gophers women’s golf team is positioned last among 19 teams at the NCAA Eastern Regional in Durham, N.C.
Amy Dahle led Minnesota on Thursday with a 3-over par 76. As a team, the Gophers are 25-over. Georgia leads the tournament at 1-over.
