Dinkytown Erbert and Gerbert’s to shut doors

Students will have to look for bread guts across campus when the Dinkytown Erbert and GerbertâÄôs Subs and Clubs closes this weekend. With Doran Companies moving forward with the development of Sydney Hall, the sandwich shop, as well as Caribou Coffee, which closed Sunday, is making way. Jim LaValle, Doran vice president of development, said the developer hopes to bring both businesses back when Sydney Hall opens. Erbert and GerbertâÄôs is scheduled to lock the doors at 8 p.m. Sunday, delivery driver Adam Schubert said. Owner Josh Jungling negotiated with Doran to stay open through Homecoming weekend. Employees from the Dinkytown location will be transferred to the Stadium Village store and will continue delivering to patrons in the area. With the two businesses out of the way, LaValle said Doran hopes to begin construction on Sydney Hall between Dec. 1 and Jan. 1. âÄúWeâÄôre excited to bring the building back and get the tenants back into business and have a new place for students to live in,âÄù he said.
