After months of consideration and waivering, Andre McDonald, the state’s top prospect, will play football for the University of Minnesota.
The senior wide receiver had verbally committed to the Gophers last March, but backed out in June in wake of an offer from Ohio State. He eventually switched his commitment to Vanderbilt, but opted to open his recruitment after the Commodores’ recievers coach left for a coaching job at Illinois. He re-committed to the Gophers just six days before National Signing Day.
McDonald had 1,253 yards and 17 touchdowns in his senior season at Hopkins High School. He can officially sign a letter of intent on Wednesday.
