High school and college students of color will learn about activism at a Friday conference in Coffman Memorial Union Theatre . The event was planned to coincide with the election of the United StatesâÄô first black president, Barack Obama. It was also planned in anticipation of the fortieth anniversary of when University of Minnesota students took over Morrill Hall to demand the creation of the Department of African American and African studies. Several of those protesters will be on hand for the conference, which will also include a drum and dance invocation and spoken word performance.
