University professor launches new word game for iPhone

If you like word games, you might want to try a new iPhone app created by a University of Minnesota professor.

“Word Bounce,” a mash-up of Boggle and Tetris, was released Monday on iTunes, according to a department memo.

Barry Kudrowitz, an assistant professor in the in the College of Design, collaborated with computer science Ph.D. student Lane Phillips to create the product.

In the game, users must spell words from bouncing letter balls before the screen fills up, Kudrowitz said.

The app has received positive feedback on the iTunes website since its debut.

One player said he or she had “spent the last hour unlocking the many addicting levels and features in this game” after buying it.
