Hanged man may have been suicide

The death of a man whose body was found hanging from a tree Monday near the Franklin Avenue Bridge is being investigated as a suicide by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The man was identified as Paul Short, 44, of St. Paul.
Short’s body was found Monday morning by someone walking along a path near the Mississippi River. The person, whose name has not been released, then called police from a nearby pay phone.
Investigators were initially suspicious of foul play because Short’s hands were tied behind his back, according to a Minneapolis Police press release.
But Penny Parish, Minneapolis Police public information officer, said a suicide note was found in Short’s apartment.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office is still investigating.
