Hargrow won’t play this year

Returning Minnesota men’s basketball player Moe Hargrow was ruled ineligible for the 2004-2005 season on Monday. He will instead redshirt this season and play his fourth year of eligibility in 2005-2006.

The St. Paul native returned to Minnesota after transferring in January to Arkansas, where he never played a game.

The Razorbacks released Hargrow from his scholarship this summer, and he had re-enrolled at the University and petitioned the NCAA to allow him to play this season.

Hargrow said in a statement that he was disappointed but not surprised by the ruling.

“I was prepared for this decision,” he said, “and I’ll use it to get better on the court and stronger off of it.”
