After plenty of talk, the Star Tribune finally hired a new editor to head up the special investigations desk, Minnpost.com reports.
Jeffrey Meitrodt, a University of Minnesota alumnus, 10-year investigations editor at the New Orleans Times-Picayune and author of some high-profile national stories, will start working next month.
Rene Sanchez, Strib managing editor, said this to Minnpost about Meitrodt:
“[He’s] the real deal, a full-tilt investigations guy. He’s a native of the state, he went to the U, his parents and sister still live here, and he’s spent a long time leading successful projects. So he comes to this task with a lot of familiarity."
