Praying for success

by Adeel Ahmad, University student

Although I didn’t vote for Gov. Mitt Romney on Election Day, he earned my respect with his concession speech. Romney said, “This is a time of great challenges for America, and I pray that the president be successful in guiding our nation.” Romney’s attitude toward the president sets an example for all of those to pray for the success of our nation under its chosen leader.

As an American Muslim, I find the Democratic process thrilling. This is what distinguishes America from many other nations — our ability to look past our differences and elect our officials peacefully for the sake of our nation. I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate President Barack Obama on his re-election and like Romney, pray for his success in tackling all the issues our nation faces with fairness and justice.
