Men’s hockey: Barriball out Friday vs. Denver

by Austin Cumblad

A Gophers team already struggling to score goals will be without its top scorer Jay Barriball tonight. The senior captain suffered a “lower body injury” (it’s not the NFL, so that’s all we get around here as far as an injury report) Saturday in Duluth and said Wednesday he was hoping to play this weekend, but apparently between the docs and trainers it’s been decided that he’s not ready to come back.

Minnesota is one point out of home-ice advantage for the WCHA playoffs right now and desperately in need of wins. Can someone step up offensively this weekend to replace Barriball’s production?
