Several University groups will hold an open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday in Coffman Union’s Mississippi Room to celebrate partnerships between the University and the community.
Posters and displays will demonstrate how the University has become involved within the community, said Monica Siems, a Community Assistantship Program associate for the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs, one of the groups sponsoring the event.
Representatives from the Council on Public Engagement, the Career and Community Learning Center, the Literacy Initiative, and student and community relations will also be at the open house.
People who attend the event can learn about opportunities to get involved, Siems said.
“Community involvement is a way to apply education at the University to what’s going on in the real world,” she said.
