McCallum Drafted by Twins in Fourth Round
Published June 10, 2009
Junior second baseman Derek McCallum was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the fourth round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft.
McCallum was taken with the 132nd overall selection.
McCallum is the highest Minnesota player taken in the draft since Glen Perkins, when Perkins was drafted in the first round, also by the Minnesota Twins.
McCallum now makes six Gophers selected by the Minnesota Twins since Perkins was taken in 2004. So far Perkins is the only one of the six selections to make it to the Major League level.
Updates on the draft, including the draft status of fellow Gopher Eric Decker, will follow.
