Why is the University of Minnesota-Duluth campus a smoke-free campus and not the Twin Cities campus? The non-smokers on this campus care about our health too! I agree with guest columnist Chelsey Johnson in ThursdayâÄôs Minnesota Daily regarding a campus smoking ban. The non-smokers on this campus have the right to walk where we please without inhaling unhealthy fumes. Iowa State University has had success with their program, which currently bans smoking on all university property, including vehicles parked on it. A ban to that extent would not be necessary. Many non-smokers would be happy with designated smoking areas. The issue is when smokers congregate in areas where large groups of people are and pollute the air that everyone breathes.
